It’s Friday, that means it’s pretty much the weekend so the fun can start now, right??? Starting with this vanilla rose lemonade? Yes lets do that! I shared a sneak peek of this on Instagram the other day so I hope you are all excited!
This vanilla rose lemonade was a spur of the moment recipe. Last weekend we drove to Warwick to meet my Mum and spend some time with her, I only get to see her 3 or 4 times a year. And we wandered around town and stumbled upon a gorgeous little deli filled with artisan cheeses, cured meats, homemade dried pasta, honey, jams, relishes and one of the most interesting dried herbs and spices selections I’ve seen in a store and i found dried rose petals.
I adore rose so I had to buy them!
And mum gifted me a big bag of lemons from a friends lemon tree. These lemons are my absolute favourite, they are always bursting with juice and more flavourful than ones i by in the supermarket. So lemonade needed to happen even though its (the mildest ever) winter here in Brisbane.
This recipe couldn’t be easier and has two key ingredients. Fresh squeezed lemon juice and vanilla rose syrup.
The syrup is a simple syrup that’s infused with rose petals and vanilla beans. It adds sweetness and subtle flavour to the lemonade as well as making it perfectly pink. Who doesn’t love a pink drink?
Marc and I both love homemade fresh lemonade so this was a huge hit for us. I will be making another batch next weekend when we have friends over, it’s perfectly refreshing on a hot day and a great alternative to a cocktail at a party!
If you like you lemonade fizzy you could 100% swap the plain water for sparkling water, i might do that next time i make it so it’s a little fancier!
This drink just screams summer to me, the flavour, the colour, it’s just summer in a glass! And I for one cannot wait for summer to be back! Now don’t get me wrong Brisbane winters are not overly cold and this year has been especially mild. But bring back hot hot days were going to the beach is the answer to every question! Those are my favourite kind of days!

Vanilla Rose Lemonade
- 3 cups fresh squeezed lemon juice
- 1 cup vanilla rose syrup
- 2 litres water (still or sparkling)
- 1 lemon, thinly sliced
- ice cubes
Vanilla Rose Syrup
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup water
- 3 teaspoons dried rose petals
- 1 teaspoon vanilla bean paste
Pour the lemon juice, vanilla rose syrup and water into a jug. Stir well, add the lemon slices and ice cubes. Serve and enjoy!
Note: This is the ratio we like, please taste and adjust sweetness as required, if it's to sharp from the lemon juice add more water.
Vanilla Rose Syrup
Place all ingredients in saucepan over medium low heat. Whisk until the sugar has dissolved, cook until the mixture starts to simmer. Simmer for 1 minute. Remove from heat and allow to cool fully. Strain the rose petals out.
