i find that people wither love or hate matcha. i only recently came around to loving it and now it’s one of my favourite drinks, always cold though. and always with just water. i’ve tried matcha lattes and so far i’m not a fan, i will no doubt try again because i want to be cool and drink matcha lattes. but today i’m bringing you a matcha lime fizz, this drink is fresh and boozy!
i was experimenting with flavours to pair with matcha and was mixing whatever i had in the fridge together to see what i loved when i stumbled upon the mix of guava coconut water, matcha, lime juice and soda water. naturally the next step on a saturday afternoon was to add booze and so these came to be.
i loved them, my mother in law loved them and, mos surprising to me my father in law loved them! my husband wasn’t willing to try it 🙁 i am still working in convincing him of my matcha loving ways.
i mixed the matcha powder into the coconut water for these, i found that the powder didn’t separate and settle at the bottom as much as it does when i mix it with water.
i find matcha to be a really clean and fresh taste and it pairs fantastically with so many flavours! i have many more matcha drinks to share with you! i’m seeing a matcha passionfruit mocktail coming your way soon!
if you want to make these for a crowd you could mix the matcha and coconut water together in advance and serve it in a jug alongside some glasses, soda water, tequila and lime wedges and let everyone make their own. of course that would mean you having a party and you made delicious foods as well! what kind of party foods would you make? maybe i need to do a cocktail party series, i could make a cocktail and finger food to match? what do you think? is that something you want to see more of here?
