Today is our first wedding anniversary so rather than a recipe today I am sharing some moments from our wedding day.
Our wedding day was everything we could have wanted and more. We were married at Branell Homestead just out of Brisbane. It was important to us that the ceremony and reception be at the same place and we had hoped to accommodation nearby for all of our guests. Branell had guest accommodation on site and was stunning.
I spent the night before the wedding in the main homestead with my Mum and Jeremy, my Maid of Honor Man. The morning of the wedding we had pancakes and champagne for breakfast before our hair dresser arrived.
After my hair and makeup was done, Mum and Jeremy helped me into my dress. As you can see Jeremy was struggling with how to lace up a corset.
Branell Homestead was built in 2008 but you wouldn’t know by walking through it! We thought it was a restored homestead that had been on the property for years. It was everything we didn’t know we had been looking for.
As you can see the library is just gorgeous!
Marc spent the night before our wedding in the cabins, they are on the property but a 3 minute drive from the homestead and that’s where he got ready. He was making sure his moustache was perfect 🙂
As I mentioned on Wednesday I made our cake, It was this simple but pretty two tier lemon meringue cake.
Mum walked me down the aisle. As soon as we reached the top of the stairs I said to her, I’m going to fall. But somehow I got down the stairs without falling.
Our celebrant Vanessa was incredible, she wrote our entire ceremony just for us. It was funny and lighthearted, we included a poem about dogs as a nod to our 2 fur babies and we also included 8 Disney quotes through the ceremony as well. It captured us perfectly.
We both felt incredibly lucky and blessed to be surrounded by our family and friends and wouldn’t have had the day of our dreams without our parents.
Our bridal party was very small, and I have had so many people ask why I had a maid of honor man. The answer is simple, Jeremy is my best friend, I love him like a brother and there is no one else in the world I wanted up there with me. Marc’s best man, his best friend Jake is like family to us as well.
We wanted the day to be fun, for everyone not just us. Although we did have a lot of fun, as you can see! We organised Bingo for our friends and family while we were having photos taken, it was a huge hit!
Branell Homestead is in a small town outside of Brisbane. It felt a million miles away from Brisbane, so quiet and peaceful. While we had some small hiccups in the lead up to our wedding and on the day, we were surrounded by people who loved us and to be honest I can’t remember what went wrong.
One year on and I love Marc more now than I did a year ago. This year has brought so much for us, my first trip overseas, thinking about buying a house, finding a block of land, designing a house, buying a block of land, and so much more.
I am looking to forward to the next year!
